BC curriculum tutoring for students at offshore schools worldwide

The BC Offshore School Program, briefly

British Columbia certifies schools outside Canada to deliver the British Columbia curriculum. A student enrolled at one of those schools takes BC courses, meets the BC graduation requirements, and receives a BC Dogwood Diploma — the same graduation certificate as a student finishing Grade 12 in Vancouver or Burnaby — without ever relocating.

BC-certified offshore schools currently operate in twelve countries: Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bermuda, China, Colombia, Egypt, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Taiwan, Thailand.

Why this matters when you're choosing a tutor

Most international tutoring is an approximation. A tutor knows their own national syllabus well and adapts it to whatever the student brings. That works, but a lot of effort goes into interpretation rather than teaching, and course-specific details — the way a question is worded, the structure an answer needs, the weighting a topic carries — get lost.

For a student at a BC-certified offshore school, none of that applies here. The course is the course we already teach. When we prepare a student for a chemistry unit test or a Grade 12 math assessment, we're working from the same content and the same expectations our Metro Vancouver students face. That is the whole argument for this page: it is not international tutoring adapted to BC, it is BC tutoring that happens to be delivered internationally.

All five are taught one-on-one from elementary level through university, and students frequently combine two within a standing weekly schedule.

How online sessions run

Sessions run over Zoom, where our tutors use an interactive whiteboard that both the tutor and the student write on. Diagrams, derivations, essay plans and worked examples accumulate through the hour, and the student keeps them afterwards as revision material. Before the first session we ask for the course outline, recent tests or assignments, and a short description of what's going wrong, so the first paid hour is teaching rather than discovery.

A student needs a computer with a stable internet connection and somewhere reasonably quiet. Nothing needs installing beyond Zoom. We work with families across different time zones and will find a time that suits your student's schedule — session times are arranged individually with each family.

Rates are shown below in Canadian dollars and are the same for online students as for in-person ones. No travel fee applies to online sessions.
