Families in Egypt whose child attends a school certified by British Columbia to deliver the BC curriculum. Your child is taking BC courses and working toward a BC Dogwood Diploma, and you'd like tutoring that treats those courses as the real thing rather than as a variant to be interpreted.

The BC curriculum connection

The BC Offshore School Program certifies schools abroad to deliver British Columbia's curriculum. Students at those schools follow BC courses, meet BC graduation requirements, and receive the BC Dogwood Diploma — the same certificate as a student graduating in Burnaby. We tutor within that curriculum as our ordinary weekly work, so for a student in Egypt this is not adapted tutoring. It is the same tutoring.

In practice, the value shows up in the details. We know how a Grade 11 or 12 course is sequenced, which units are quietly load-bearing for the ones that follow, and where the marks actually sit in a long-answer question. A tutor working from an unfamiliar syllabus gets there eventually; we start there.

One pattern worth mentioning, because it comes up wherever students study in English while living in another language: a student can understand the science thoroughly and still lose marks on the way they express it. A lab discussion that doesn't connect results to the hypothesis, an essay that argues well but structures poorly, a long-answer response that gives the right conclusion without the reasoning steps the rubric rewards. These are conventions, not intelligence, and they respond fast to one-on-one work. We regularly pair a science or math course with targeted writing work for exactly this reason, and the effect usually shows up across every subject at once.

The other pattern is the transfer student. A child who moved into a BC-curriculum school from a different system may know the content but not the conventions — different notation habits, different expectations for showing work, a different rhythm of assessment. We can close that gap directly, because BC conventions are the ones we teach in every week.

How online sessions work

Sessions are held over Zoom, where our tutors use an interactive whiteboard that the student can also write on as much as the tutor does. Everything produced during the hour is saved and passed to the student, so revision material accumulates naturally instead of being manufactured the week before an exam.

Materials flow both ways: send us the course outline, recent assessments and upcoming assignment briefs, and we'll plan around the school's own sequence and dates. Progress is tracked topic by topic, with a plain-language update to parents on what has improved and what still needs work. A computer with a stable connection and a quiet room are all a student needs.

We work with families across different time zones and will find a time that suits your student's schedule. Times are arranged individually with each family.
