You're a parent in Bahrain, your child attends a school certified by British Columbia to deliver the BC curriculum, and they're working toward a Dogwood Diploma. Somewhere along the way a subject stopped making sense — often a senior science, often math the year the abstraction arrives — and the school's own support isn't closing the gap fast enough. That is the situation this page is written for.

It's worth saying plainly what we are: a small one-on-one tutoring service based in Burnaby, British Columbia. We are not a large international platform that assigns you whoever is free. You get the same tutor each week, working from a plan built for your child.

The BC curriculum connection

British Columbia certifies offshore schools in a small number of countries, Bahrain among them, to deliver the BC curriculum. Graduates receive the same Dogwood Diploma as a student finishing Grade 12 in Burnaby. For tutoring, this is unusually good news. Your child is not studying something adjacent to what we teach — they are studying the same courses, with the same learning standards and the same assessment style that our Metro Vancouver students face every week.

That means we don't spend the first month interpreting an unfamiliar syllabus. We know which topics reliably cause trouble, which ones carry weight in senior courses, and what a full-mark answer looks like rather than merely a correct one. The tutoring is the same tutoring, delivered over Zoom instead of at a kitchen table in Burnaby.

Families in Bahrain often have another layer to manage: international moves. A student may have arrived from a British, American or national-curriculum school and be adjusting to BC conventions — different course sequencing, different expectations for lab write-ups, a different style of essay. We can work on that adjustment directly, because the destination conventions are the ones we know best.

How online sessions work

Sessions run over Zoom, where our tutors use an interactive whiteboard. The student can write on it as much as the tutor does, which matters — watching someone else solve a problem builds recognition, not skill. Everything written during the hour is saved and sent to the student afterwards, so a term's worth of sessions becomes a personalised revision set.

To join, a student needs a computer with a stable internet connection and somewhere reasonably quiet. Materials go both ways: you send the course outline, recent assessments and assignment briefs before we begin, and we send worked examples, practice sets and plain-language progress notes so you can see what has genuinely improved and what is still shaky.

We work with families across different time zones and will find a time that suits your student's schedule. Session times are arranged individually with each family at the consultation.
