Tutor with Cosmic Concept Tutoring

What we're hiring for

• High school math and sciences — Grades 8 to 12, including Pre-Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
• Elementary — Grades 4 to 7, across subjects.
• English and writing — reading comprehension, essay structure, and writing support.
• University level — first and second year math, physics, and related coursework.

What we're looking for

• Strong subject knowledge — a degree, or currently studying, in a relevant field.
• The ability to explain clearly to someone who is stuck, which is a different skill from knowing the material.
• Patience, and genuine interest in how a particular student learns.
• Reliability with a standing weekly schedule.
• Comfort adapting to students who learn differently, including students with ADHD and other learning differences.
• A reliable internet connection, a quiet and private space to work from, and a device that supports video calls and a virtual whiteboard.

Requirements

These are non-negotiable.

• A current Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector screening. Every tutor working with our students must have one before their first session. This protects students and families, and it is not waived for anyone.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
• Willingness to work as an independent contractor and manage your own taxes.

How it works

• All sessions are delivered online. We do not contract tutors for in-person sessions.
• Engagements are as an independent contractor, not employment.
• Pay is a flat hourly rate, discussed with candidates directly.
• We handle finding students, scheduling, client communication, and billing — you focus on teaching.
• Hours are flexible and depend on student demand. We do not guarantee a minimum number of hours.
• Sessions are one-to-one, never group.
