Who this is for

Vancouver families are busy in a particular way. Between commutes, sports, music and a school calendar that never quite lines up with anyone's work schedule, the hardest part of getting help often isn't finding a tutor — it's finding a time that survives contact with a real week. That's why we're flexible about format: in-person when it works, online when it doesn't, without renegotiating anything.

We work with elementary students building foundations, high school students navigating senior math and science, and university students, including those at institutions across the city, who need to keep pace with fast-moving first-year courses.

Local roots, worldwide reach

Cosmic Concept Tutoring is based in Burnaby and was founded by Raziq Kanani, a local astrophysics graduate. We know the BC curriculum because we work in it every week, and we serve families across Greater Vancouver in person — Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, Richmond and the surrounding areas — while online sessions reach students anywhere in the world.

We work with families across East Vancouver, Mount Pleasant, Renfrew-Collingwood, Killarney, Marpole, Oakridge, Kerrisdale and Kitsilano, and we currently have students at Killarney, Vancouver Technical, David Thompson, Point Grey and Sir Winston Churchill, along with elementary students nearby.

Subjects we offer in Vancouver

• Math tutoring — Elementary number sense through calculus and linear algebra.
• English tutoring — Reading, essay structure, analysis and academic writing.
• Chemistry tutoring — Stoichiometry, bonding, equilibrium and thermochemistry.
• Biology tutoring — Cells, genetics, physiology, ecology and evolution.
• Physics tutoring — Kinematics, forces, energy, circuits and modern physics.

In person or online

In-person sessions in Vancouver include a $10 travel fee, since we're travelling in from Burnaby, and neighbourhoods that require significantly more travel time may carry an additional charge — we'll always quote it up front. Online sessions have no travel fee and are available anywhere, which is why a good number of our Vancouver students meet us on Zoom during the school year and only switch to in person during exam crunch.

Online doesn't mean diluted. We use a shared whiteboard, the student writes as much as we do, and everything worked through is saved for them afterwards.
